Waltloo Three-Tank API653 Refurbishment.

Brief

The client had three medium-sized petroleum storage tanks reaching the end of their inspection interval, with thickness mapping flagging floor plate corrosion below the API653 minimum on one of the tanks.

Scope

We carried out a partial floor plate replacement on one of the three tanks, executed with the internal floating roof in place, which is faster than dismantling the IFR to get access.

For the internal lining we prepared the surface to Sa 2.5, then applied the specified system to the floor and bottom shell strake.

We conducted mechanical repairs on the first shell strake and applied a new coating system to the entire strake.

Outcome

Three tanks returned to service in sequence. We registered the coating systems with the manufacturer for warranty, and handed over each tank with a complete pack.
